The mysterious chained oak, inspiration for the Alton Towers ride "Hex"; the tree is said to be 1,000 years old. A curse dating to 1821 is that everytime a limb falls from the tree a member of the Earl of Shrewsbury's family will die - hence the chains.

It felt as if I was plugged into an electric generator, and got static shocks from the dowsing rods all day. I had never experienced anything quite like it before, or since. Taken there by a Druid. Pont Scethin, on the ancient route above Barmouth and Harlech to Dolgellau. A very remote location, wonderfully ambient feeling. This crosses the River Yscethin; the drovers passed by here, packhorses, prehistoric wayside markers, and has even been postulated as the site of a ford on a Roman route between the Lleyn & Dolgellau.
